Tips To Help Boost Your Energy

Remember when you were a kid and you used to take afternoon naps? I would fight my mother everyday and never wanted to take my naps, as an adult it has become a childhood regret. As an adult it is sometimes nearly impossible to take a 30 minute power nap. Our schedules are so impacted and we find ourselves feeling tired and lethargic throughout the day. There can be many reasons why we experience low energy such as; lack of sleep, dehydration, sugar or caffeine lows, stress. Here are a few things I have found that help keep my energy levels up in the day.

Waking up and starting the day with a mini stretch session is a great way to wake up the body and get your limbs moving after sleeping. The best part is most of the stretching can start right in your bed. I like to begin by extending my arms over my head and lengthen every part of my body including legs and my core. I then pull my knees into my chest and give myself a big hug, I will even rock from side to side. I repeat this a few times and I feel ready to start my day. Drinking coffee can also be helpful to boost energy levels, however drinking a large coffee can almost guarantee you to have a hard crash later in the day. Dry drinking smaller portions of coffee through out the day and for every cup of coffee drink 2 cups of water to keep the body hydrated. This will also help to keep up your energy levels because your body will be hydrated.

Your body can also experience fatigue if your muscles are tight or if there is compression on your nervous system. Lastly don't forget to give yourself some relaxation or meditation time. Everybody needs balance and time to allow the body to reset. 5 minutes of meditation a day can help sleep quality, lower stress levels and relax the body and mind.
